Rodriguez ~ Sugar Man.Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1942, Rodriguez recorded and released Cold Fact in 1970. Unfortunately at the time, no one cared. At least in America.
Some Aussie's at Blue Goose Music bought the Australian rights to his back catalogue in the mid 70's ~ re-releasing his two studio albums and putting together a compilation album ~ so Rodriguez toured Australia in '79 and '81. Then, poof, he was gone.
But his music wasn't. That reissue in 1976 went platinum in South Africa... but Rodriguez had no clue until the late 90's ~ he was doing construction work at the time ~ when his daughter discovered his fame on a fan website. Then he began to do stuff again. And tour. Go see him.
